Program Activities

• The Plant Materials Center can provide professional advice and guidance
   with Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)

• Provide recommendations regarding on site specific erosion, sediment control
   measures, or Best Management Practices (BMPs)

• Collect and analyze soil samples for nutrient and texture composition for local,
   state and federal agencies

• Conduct pre-construction soil surveys and baseline site investigations

• Advise contractors, engineers and other industry professionals with soils
   analysis interpretation, proper field sampling and site specific fertilizer
   recommendations

Publications and Reports

The Alaska Coastal and Interior Revegetation & Erosion Control Guides are an information resource created to assist professionals involved in construction or cleanup activities in Coastal and Interior regions of Alaska. These guides include information on techniques for planting, wild harvest and the protection of fragile resources.

These publications contain species suggestions, descriptions of vegetation communities, and detailed case studies for each region of Alaska, and feature a step-by-step guide to planning a revegetation project. These guides include plant profiles and case studies that are color coded to each region of Alaska, creating a reference that is easy to navigate.

The Alaska Coastal and Interior Revegetation & Erosion Control Guides were funded in part by a grant from the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service.
